We set up Ensemble Cymru because we’re passionate about the vision of a world class ensemble based in rural Wales; an area with its breathtaking landscapes and rich and diverse cultures.

By commissioning new music and discovering music from our heritage informed by the history and geography of the area we work in we believe that we’re bringing something new and distinctive to the art form of chamber music.

By placing music from Wales’ heritage and contemporary culture alongside repertoire from across the world we believe we’re creating programmes which are really exciting and innovative.

We’re passionate about quality and we work to bring together performers who are specialists in the field of chamber music performance.

Our Artist in Association, Paul Watkins is cellist for two of the most celebrated chamber ensembles in the world the Nash Ensemble and soon the Emerson String Quartet. We’re passionate about making a difference to people’s lives with something that we believe is out of the ordinary and exceptional.
